Various shooting ranges and hunt clubs fill the city to help you get your target practice. With this guide to the Charleston, SC sportsman community, you should be tagging your first deer in no time.

South Carolina Hunting Regulations

You need to be aware of the hunting regulations in South Carolina. Make sure you take your hunter education course and obtain your hunting license before anything. There are only two free hunting days in SC for those without a permit, which fall in January. You must follow all rules and only hunt for the animals in season. 

Quick Shot Shooting Range of Charleston

Quick Shot Shooting Range of Charleston is the top choice in town. They operate seven days per week and are typically open in the evening, so you have a chance to visit. Enjoy some practice time at the range or receive firearms instruction. Individual instruction and group settings are both offered. Bring your gun and ammo to use or rent theirs for a nominal fee. 

C&S Shooting Sports

C&S Shooting Sports also offers an indoor range. Choose the basic range for pistol shooting, a tactical range for rifles and shotguns, or a simulator with moving targets and speed drills. They also offer an instruction course for beginners. If you're looking to purchase weapons, C&S has plenty in stock. On top of guns and related accessories, they also have an assortment of hunting knives. When you need one of your own gun repairs, you can bring it along and utilize their gunsmithing services. 

Charleston Rifle Club

Become a member of the Charleston Rifle Club and get access to 14 acres near the Ashley River. The entire area includes a sprawling facility, fishing pond, picnic spot, and outdoor pavilion. Inside, you'll find an elegant ballroom rented out for weddings with access to a luxe lounge, bowling center, and game room. 

Palmetto Gun Club

The Palmetto Gun Club hosts matches every third Saturday of the month where the public can participate. The Ridgeville location, close to Summerville, is open to members and their guests. They provide pistol bays, 200-yard rifle lines, and various long ranges for practice shooting. Their long ranges scale from 300 yards to 835 yards. Handgun and rifle instruction are also offered, as well as concealed carry courses.

Partridge Creek Gun Club

Partridge Creek Gun Club boasts 100 acres of property. They offer far more than the average shooting range. Enjoy skeet shooting, trap shooting, and sporting clays. They're also backed by the South Carolina Trapshooters' Association, National Skeet Shooting Association, and other prominent businesses. They host monthly 5-stand matches every second Saturday with a 100-round event. Five shooters are allowed per rotation. 

Palmetto State Armory

Nearby in Summerville, the Palmetto State Armory takes precedence. Their firearms production facility is just the beginning. In Summerville and other nearby cities, they also offer numerous outlet stores and indoor ranges for your convenience. Hunting and fishing gear are among what you'll find for purchase, while the range provides six lanes for shooting plus an entire archery department.
